“Illegal” is not a Race

I had a feeling a seemingly unnecessary explanation was was going to be needed.  I know, you’d think something unnecessary is, by dint of being unnecessary, never needed but apparently having to explain that being against illegal immigration is not racist or hateful is something we have to do nowadays.   I’m going to try to keep this as short as possible (ha, I laugh at me).  Hopefully it won’t take that long to explain something that’s, well, common sense.

Illegal is not a race.  It’s a crime.  Simple as that.  Murder is illegal.  Stealing is illegal.  Kicking babies in the face with steel toed boots is illegal (for those of you that are kind of slow…that’s called child abuse).  Coming into this country from ANYWHERE, not just Mexico, outside the country’s immigration laws is also illegal.  Keep in mind, and this hardly ever crosses a persons mind, if I tried to move to, say, Italy and I did so by not obeying Italy’s immigration laws…I’d be an illegal immigrant!  Murder, stealing, child abuse, and illegal immigration are also crimes.  But for some reason people, mostly liberals…..well from what I can tell ALL liberals (if you’re a liberal that’s against illegal immigration, tell me!  I’d love to know they exist), want to add this race based qualifying factor to illegal immigration.  Which makes just as much sense as saying “What?  You’re against child abuse?  Why do you hate whites?”  A statement like that insinuates that all child abusers are white which is completely false.  Likewise, “What?  You’re against illegal immigration?  Why do you hate Hispanics?” makes absolutely no sense since it’s insinuating that all illegal immigrants are Hispanic.  If you want to come to the United States then please do!  You are more than welcome to and we’d love to have you but please come through the front door.  Don’t come sneaking in through the back!  We have laws and there are negative consequences for breaking those laws.    We don’t want criminals, we have jails for those.

Now there’s always the same tired argument that we should grant all current illegal aliens amnesty and voila!  They’re Americans now and will have to pay taxes like the rest of us!  Woo for MOAR money to help pay down our gabillion dollar debt!  But….but that means they’re working, which is…you know, against the law.  So not only are we going to turn a blind eye to the fact that businesses are hiring illegals (which they DO and which only a very tiny percent get punished for it, cause you know, we have to at least LOOK like we care about enforcing the law) but we’re also going to reward the illegals for breaking the law.  And let’s not forget that politicians are, well, politicians and the only thing they love more than empty promises that bring in votes are meaningful promises that bring in votes.  Illegal aliens want amnesty.  Which political party is ok with granting that amnesty?  Democrats.  Which means the majority of the 12+ some-odd million new Americans will very very likely vote…democrat.  Are ya seeing it?  They see new voters.  New Democrat voters.  Which is pretty par for the course seeing as most criminals do indeed vote democrat.  I’ll give you a hint as to why.  Liberalism thrives on the fact that they have no self accountability.  They sympathize with the criminal, thus, the criminal votes for them.  Don’t believe me?  Look it up.  To point you in the right direction just look no further than the 1996 election.  In states where convicted felons have the right to vote 93% voted for Clinton.  Not exactly a stretch to say criminals vote democrat, but I digress.

Some complain that the immigration process is too hard and almost prohibitively hard and that some people don’t even qualify.  I’ve read over the process myself and I’m not going to argue with the fact that it’s extensive.  I don’t believe it’s prohibitively so, but then again I’ve never gone through the process.  If someone says they think the process needs to be looked at and possibly reformed…that’s something I’m open to depending on what they’re wanting to change.  You don’t want to make it so easy that drug dealers, murders, rapists, and other dangerous criminals are getting in without issue.  Wait, that’s already happening.  Hmm, maybe the process isn’t hard enough.  Or, maybe it is and the government isn’t enforcing the laws like they should (ding ding!  We have a winner).  Maybe Arizona has the right idea in trying to make it less appealing for these criminals to attempt a cross over into Arizona.  In fact, illegal immigrants are already threatening to leave Arizona because of their new law.  Which begs the question…so if the rest of the country adopted similar laws would that discourage illegal immigration?  Sounds like Arizona is picking up the ball where the federal government deflated and dropped it.  And I’m sure I’ll need to repeat this….it is only wanted that ILLEGAL immigration is stopped.  NOT legal immigration.

I know I said I was going to keep it short but have I ever? ;)   But anyway, long story short, I think it’s a wonderful thing that people from around the globe want to reside here.  It’s a great country!  I do need to tell one quick story to get to my next point so bear with me.  The ACLU which is, not surprisingly, very much against the new immigration law in Arizona.  As I mentioned in my previous blog they stated that anyone that looks or sounds foreign would be harassed (paraphrased).  A friend of mine asked the question during conversation, “What does an American look or sound like?”  To which I answered that an American looks like everyone.  They sound like everyone.  It’s true.  I’m not anti US noobs and neither are most, if not all, true blood conservatives.  But as I’ve mentioned countless times we are against those that want to come here illegally.  We want our fellow citizens to be protected from the drug dealers, murders, and rapists that sneak in here.  There is nothing racist or hateful about wanting to welcome someone into this country as a brother and not a criminal.
